Osaka, who grew up in the US and speaks little Japanese, melted hearts when she fought back tears after her emotional US Open win over her idol Williams as booing echoed around the stadium.

The development comes just over a fortnight since world number one Osaka won her second career grand slam at Melbourne Park on Australia Day.

The 34-year-old German coach spent eight years as Serena Williams' hitting partner, before spending a short stint with Caroline Wozniacki prior to his involvement with Osaka.

" Thanks to my team, I don't think I would have made it through this week without you". She also thanked Bajin and wished him "all the best in the future".

Osaka won her first WTA title at the BNP Paribas Open, last March, following which she went on to clinch 2018 US Open title and 2019 Australian Open. "Thank you for letting me be part of this", he said.

Bajin took up the coach's job with Osaka in 2017 and experienced immediate success.

Osaka is the first player from Asia to grace the top of the women's or men's world tennis rankings.
