You may have heard the rumors, and now it's a reality.

McDonald's announced Monday that it was jumping into the breakfast fry game with "donut sticks". "They're sprinkled with cinnamon sugar for a crunchy outside and soft, doughy inside, and served warm to customers".

McDonald's is debuting a new breakfast item: McCafe Donut Sticks.

On Monday, the fast-food chain confirmed news of the item, described as the "perfect complement to [the chain's] existing breakfast lineup", and announced that its Donut Sticks will indeed be available at participating restaurants across the nation starting February 20.

While the Donut Sticks basically look like a spin on churros, McDonald's vice president of menu innovation Linda VanGosen says the brand put a lot of time into getting the sticks right.

The chain tested them in select IL restaurants in 2018 to get the flawless texture. Since McDonald's sees them as the ideal treat to go with their coffee, there will be a special price when you get a half-dozen Donut Sticks and small McCafé coffee. And now, McDonald's is adding Donut Sticks to its famous breakfast lineup.
