The stories in Tuesday's newspapers involving Chelsea...

With crucial fixtures in Europe, the Premier League, FA Cup and a Carabao Cup final against Manchester City on the horizon, players have been urged not to let disappointments of the last few weeks affect their focus ahead of what will be a pivotal fortnight.

However, Stamford Bridge favourite Lampard talked down the suggestion that he could be heading back to the club he represented as a player for 13 years. Sarri was confident the players were picking up his philosophy early in the season when they went on an 18-game unbeaten run, but in the space of 10 days they conceded four away to Bournemouth and then the embarrassing six against Premier League leaders City.

The Chelsea hierarchy is prepared to give Maurizio Sarri till the remainder of the month to prove that he still has what it takes to continue as the manager of the club.

The Daily Mirror, meanwhile, say Sarri is under scrutiny at Chelsea for his handling of Callum Hudson-Odoi.

Sarri is under pressure after some dismal results.

Bayern Munich are pursuing the teenager, who had a transfer request rejected during the recent transfer window and is again being overlooked by Sarri.

However, the substitutes from the Etihad and unused squad players, in front of Sarri, participated in a training ground game against a Chelsea's academy team, which ended in a 3-3 draw.
