Grammys producer Ken Ehrlich told the Associated Press that Grande, who is nominated for best pop vocal performance and best pop vocal album, declined to perform Sunday because she "felt it was too late for her to pull something together".

Genre-bending experimental artist Beck scored the prize for Best Alternative Music Album.

Janelle Monae's Dirty Computer, country singer Kacey Musgraves' Golden Hour, Carlile's By The Way, I Forgive You, newcomer H.E.R's self-titled H.E.R., and the Black Panther soundtrack round out contenders for album of the year.

Lady Gaga - who will be performing tonight without Bradley Cooper, who is in Britain, attending the BAFTAs - won best song written for visual media for, of course, "Shallow" from A Star Is Born.

As Gaga arrived on stage, she became very emotional.

The seven-piece K-pop sensation were on hand to present at the awards show and their album Love Yourself: Tear was also nominated for best recording package.

Childish Gambino won the coveted prize for best music video for his politically provocative "This Is America". I sang that version in one take, & poured my entire life & soul into it. Thank you so much for this gift I am completely shocked.

The track will compete for more Grammys, including song of the year, record of the year and best pop duo/group performance.

Viewers can expect performances from Miley Cyrus, Yolanda Adams, Camila Cabello, Travis Scott, Cardi B, J Balvin, Camila Cabello, Cardi B, Dua Lipa, Diana Ross, Lady Gaga, Shawn Mendes, H.E.R. and more. The stars glammed up in the name of the 2019 Grammy Awards, and we were more than happy to bear witness to their show-stopping looks.

"I've kept my mouth shut but now you're lying about me", she tweeted.

Women have a strong presence in the top categories.

The Scorpion rapper also reportedly turned down the opportunity to perform at the Grammys this year.

When asked about the lack of women in the top categories at the 2018 Grammys, Recording Academy CEO Neil Portnow said women need to "step up".

Jada Pinkett Smith and Jennifer Lopez also spoke and stood in solidary with Obama, Gaga and Alicia Keys, who is hosting the show airing on CBS. He later acknowledged that it was a "poor choice of words", and it forced the academy to launch a new task force focused on inclusion and diversity.

Hosted by 15-time Grammy victor Alicia Keys, this year's broadcast features performances by Lady Gaga, Shawn Mendes and rapper Cardi B.

There will also be a tribute to the late Aretha Franklin, who died last August.
