His election was in contrast to the situation when he took over two and a half years ago, with football in turmoil amid a corruption scandal that toppled his predecessor Michel Platini.

He was first elected in September 2016 to replace Michel Platini after the former France midfielder was banned by Federation Internationale de Football Association for ethics violations.

Ceferin was president of the Football Association of Slovenia between 2011 and 2016, and had been the President of UEFA since September 14, 2016.

Ceferin said both he and Andrea Agnelli, president of the European Club Association (ECA), were united in opposing the initiative.

FIFA President Gianni Infantino, meanwhile, said a task force set up to look at possible formats for the competitions may not complete its report by March as originally scheduled.

Al-Khelaifi could be implicated in an independent investigation of PSG's compliance with UEFA financial monitoring rules, and he also heads BeIN Sports, which holds some UEFA broadcast rights.

"I don't know what competitions there will be in two years, four years, ten years but we didn't get any more information that we had in Bogota in March", Ceferin told reporters after UEFA's annual Congress.

Ceferin on Thursday vowed there would never be a breakaway European Super League during his term in office.

The RFEF will receive 160,000 euros as a result of being part of the Executive Committee, whilst Davor Suker, Fernando Gomes and Sandor Csandy were all elected to represent Croatia, Portugal and Hungary respectively.

The row over FIFA's controversial plans for a new Club World Cup and global Nations League has intensified, after UEFA's president pulled no punches in a searing attack on the proposals in front of his counterpart.

- UEFA will launch its own over-the-top (OTT) online streaming platform to broadcast games within six months.

"A leader without doubts", Ceferin said, "is a delusional and unsafe leader". It could include "premium live content" such as Champions League games along with games from youth and women's soccer competitions.
