According to The Quint's Stutee Ghosh Kaushal, in his "all guns blazing avatar, plays his role with exactly the right amount of vigour and vulnerability". Based on the surgical strikes of 2016 carried out by the Indian Armed Forces, "Uri" traces the significant event.
Apart from Vicky, the film also stars Paresh Rawal as National Security Advisor Ajit Doval and Yami Gautam as a no-nonsense interrogation officer.
As per the early estimates, it is reported that Uri: The Surgical Strike might collect anywhere between Rs 15 - 20 Crore at the box office on Day 3, Sunday.
Vicky Kaushal was interacting with media after success of the film along with his co-stars Mohit Raina and Yami Gautam on Saturday in Mumbai. The film, that made it to the theatres yesterday, received a thumbs up from the critics and going by the box office numbers, it seems that it is an average hit among the audience too. The film is written and directed by Aditya Dhar and produced by Ronnie Screwvala under the production banner of RSVP Movies. Vicky is playing the role of a soldier in a movie while Yami is playing an intelligence officer. The Vicky-starrer, however, is marching ahead of "The Accidental Prime Minister" which chronicles the tenure of former Prime Minister Manmohan Singh in office.
