After fans of the epic HBO drama Game of Thrones have waited almost two years to watch the final season of the series, the network has finally announced its premiere date. Details on the final season are still scarce and with just six episodes to look forward to, fans can be expect all the loose ends of the plot are tied up.

As they stop, the temperature drops, and the three turn to face the oncoming cold.

The trailer shows the reunited Jon Snow, Sansa and Arya Stark as they walk in the dingy crypts of Winterfell, flanked by statues of fallen Starks - Ned, Catelyn and Lyanna.

Thereafter, the teaser then petrifies the siblings with the arrival of White Walkers. It was previously revealed that Season 8 would also host eight new characters. And although the flagship series is ending, the network has multiple projects set in the Game of Thrones universe now in development.

This final season of the long-running series will be six episodes long, as opposed to its previous standard 10 episode seasons.

The one minute and 44-second clip showed Arya Stark (Maisie Williams), Sansa Stark (Sophie Turner) and Jon Snow (Kit Harington) walking in the tombs under Winterfell, their family home.

It's official: Game of Thrones' final season comes crashing into our lives April 14, 2019.

The teaser-trailer doesn't offer much in terms of spoilers for the season but it certainly gave us chills.
