Dished out by the Broadcast Film Critics Association, the awards honour the best in film and television and are generally considered a good indicator for the Oscars.

Gaga, 32, posted the sad news on her Instagram, including an image of her and Arabella on a stunning ride in front of the ocean.

Colman, who did not attend the ceremony, picked up the best comedy actress prize ahead of fellow Brit, Mary Poppins Returns star Emily Blunt.

Roma beat out an impressive field of Best Picture nominees to take home the award, including Mary Poppins Returns, Vice, A Star is Born, If Beale Street Could Talk, Green Book, First Man, The Favorite, BlacKkKlansman, and the Ryan Coogler-directed Marvel Studios film Black Panther. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys were unable to make it.

As for other films honored within their specific genres tonight, A Quiet Place took home the award for Best Sci-Fi or Horror Movie while Tom Cruise's Mission: Impossible - Fallout won for Best Action Film.

In a rpeat from the Golden Globes a little over a week ago, while absent British actress Olivia Colman won the Best Actress (comedy) award for her role in The Favourite.

Keri was up for Best Actress in a Drama Series and Holly was nominated for Best Supporting Actress in a Drama Series.

The Favourite, which had led the way with 14 nominations, won the best acting ensemble prize, while Crazy Rich Asians won best comedy.
