Criminal Minds, one of television's longest-running procedurals, is coming to an end.
The series tells the story of a specialized group of Federal Bureau of Investigation agents who profile criminals, attempting to unravel their psychology in order to anticipate their next moves.
"Hey, #CriminalMinds fans - we've got big news".
After the long-running show didn't receive an early Season 14 pick-up a year ago (though it did eventually get renewed for a shorter episode order), fans suspected this could be the CBS procedural's swan song.
CBS" EVP of current programs, Amy Reisenbach said that "It is the quintessential CBS hit.
That being said, there is no doubt that the viewers are looking forward to some iconic moments in the season 14 finale, including David Rossi's wedding with Krystal - his third ex wife with whom he reunited last season. "It speaks to everything we do best, which is air quality television".
That's when all the networks involved, CBS, ABC Studios and CBS TV Studios, came to the decision that the series should be extended for one more season so that they could spin a proper finale. The final 10 episodes will be shot back-to-back with the Season 14 episodes now in production.
The long-running crime drama about a group of Federal Bureau of Investigation behavioral profilers recently celebrated its 300th episode.
Original cast members included Many Patinkin, Thomas Gibson, Lola Glaudini, Shemar Moore and Penelope Garcia.
Erica Messer is showrunner and executive producer on the series, alongside Mark Gordon and Breen Frazier.
