An on-duty bus driver in Milwaukee knew what she had to do when she saw a young boy when a baby wandering around alone near busy streets.
MCTS says the lost boy, who was less than a year old, was wearing just a diaper and onesie when driver Irena Ivic spotted him December 22 along her route in Milwaukee.
Irena Ivic-Drobnjak is being praised for her immediate action which may have saved the child's life.
The parents were eventually reunited with the child and no charges have been filed. Police said the boy's mother left him outside, according to MCTS. The child was barefoot - and wearing just a onesie and diaper.
She runs across the street and picks up the crying boy, who was making his way around a corner, bringing him on board her bus.
Security video showed the boy toddling down the overpass.
The video also shows Ivic, driving her bus as normal, then suddenly stopping it, as she spots the child wandering close to the road. One even offered her coat to keep the baby warm.
NOTE: Police first said the baby fas a boy but later clarified that the child is actually a girl.
After a period of time, emergency officials are seen arriving before they take the child, fast asleep in the driver's arms, with them. "She did the right thing", he said of the five-year veteran with the service.
