Google Assistant’s new ‘Interpreter Mode’ serves as real-time translator for hotel guests

People have been wanting Google Assistant to be able to do flight check-ins for a long time and it's finally coming. Lacey said Google has more than a decade of machine translation experience to rely on for this new feature, which enables some pretty complex conversations. Instead, they are focusing on the continued expansion of their partnerships with manufacturers to create new and more capable smart home devices powered by the Assistant.

Google partnered with Lenovo to produce the 4-inch Smart Clock, which comes with a touchscreen that automatically adjusts based on the room's brightness, so that it "gently wakes" users up in the morning.

Once you have updated your Google Maps, Just say "Hey Google, take me home", to open Google Maps and get help from your Assistant on your journey.

In a demonstration at the Las Vegas exhibit, Google showed how its new Interpreter feature can be used to break down language barriers in real-time conversations. The Assistant will show you the pricing, availability and the works, which you can book using Google Pay.

The feature would be introduced to more devices and even smartphones in the future.

Google didn't debut any new products of their own this year.

Additionally, and still within the travel theme, Google is rolling out Interpreter Mode over the next few weeks to Google Home and Smart Display devices.

Google expects its Assistant to be on one billion devices by the end of this month.

Google is also adding assistant support for Google Keep, Any.do, Bring and Todoist so that you can manage notes and lists using the virtual assistant.

Anker today announced a new addition to its Roav lineup of in-car tech - the Roav Bolt. Domestic passengers in the USA can say, "Hey Google, check in to my flight" on Android or iOS and Assistant will take care of the necessary steps. Additionally, Google Assistant will also alert if your flight is ready for Web check-in. It will be initially available for domestic flights with United Airlines in the US. The Assistant will help you calculate your ETA from Google Maps and send the details to friends using any of the aforementioned messenger apps. Google also has devices at the Hyatt in San Francisco and Dream Hotel in New York City.
