The December solstice marks the exact moment when the sun's most direct rays reach their southernmost point south of the equator, along the Tropic of Capricorn, at 23.5 degrees south latitude.

Previously, the mouse did some spring cleaning all the way back in March for the spring Equinox, enjoyed the sunlight on a summer day during the June 21 summer solstice and prepared for the arrival of fall on September 22.

"December 21st marks the 2017 winter solstice, as well as the first day of winter on the astronomical calendar".

"Experience the wonder, as out of the morning's darkness a single ray of light illuminates the passage tomb on the shortest day of the year, marking the end of winter and the start of new life". Then there's Albert Camus the French Nobel Prize winning author, journalist & philosopher famous Winter Solstice quote "In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me there lay an invincible summer". This made it easy for the crossover from honoring pagan forces to worshipping Jesus and Christianity. Here in NYC we're expected to get around nine hours of sunlight today, but regions farther north will see as little as three or four. The time and date for the winter solstice changes all the time. They spend time preparing themselves by fasting and praying for several days before the solstice, which they see as the beginning of the year.

Even though the days begin to get longer as we go through the month of January, the coldest temperatures of the season occur. The prehistoric site is believed to have been constructed between 3000 BCE and 2000 BCE, but no one has been able to solve the mystery of how those enormous stones got there.
