Brazil's biggest soccer legend Pele does not think Barcelona star Lionel Messi deserves to be compared to him.

Pele reckons five-time Balon d'Or victor and arguably the greatest footballer to ever walk this planet, Lionel Messi, "only has one skill".

In an interview with Folha de S.Paulo (Brazilian daily Newspaper), Pele said that there is no comparison between him and Messi. "To compare with Pelé, it has to be someone who shoots well with the left, shoots well with the right, and scores headers".

In a remarkable set of quotes, the Brazilian went on to claim that Messi "only shoot with one leg" despite the fact he scored his first eight goals for Barcelona with his left foot, right foot and head.

The Brazilian star, however, said Neymar is a "better player" than Frenchman Kylian Mbappe, his colleague at Paris Saint-Germain and who this year won the World Cup in Russian Federation with the French national team.

When asked on both players he said, "As far as I'm concerned, Maradona was one of the best players ever".

The 26-year-old was heavily criticised for his antics at the 2018 FIFA World Cup, during which he got a lot of flak for diving and trying to get his opponents in trouble.

Pele doesn't think Lionel Messi is the best football player in historyWhat's the story?

However, Pele is not ready to accept he made a stunning attack on this one-footed attacker.

"It's hard to defend Neymar for all the things he does besides playing football", Pele added. Much better. Was still Beckenbauer, Cruyff.

Three-time World Cup victor Pele had a talk to his fellow Santos product about his actions, which he found tough to reconcile.

But, Pele has also chosen Messi over Ronaldo in the past, for the Argentine's all-round talent compared to his rival's pure goalscoring ability.

O Rei also said he is in better health after some surgeries over the past year, but is not yet 100%.
