It is also the first first-person shooter from Obsidian, who have been more known for their isometric RPGs than first person shooters.

As you would expect from Obsidian, this is a single-player RPG with plenty of freedom.

At The Game Awards, Obsidian announced their newest game: The Outer Worlds.

The Outer Worlds will be releasing in 2019, so we'll be seeing much more of this game over the course of next year. Unlike Cyberpunk 2077, it doesn't seem like there are any exceptions to that rule in the form of third-person cutscenes or a third-person vehicle camera.

In amidst a host of new game announcements - Far Cry: New Dawn, Crash Team Racing, and Dragon Age 4, to name only a few - Obsidian grabbed our attention with the announcement of a new, sci-fi RPG titled The Outer Worlds. It's now slated to come to PC, PS4, and Xbox One. Throughout the game, as players fight different monsters and make their way through various non-combat encounters, they can choose to take "Flaws", which hinder their character in some way while providing an extra perk point immediately. Will you be getting this when it launches next year?

Back in 2017, sources told TweakTown that Fallout creator Tim Cain was working on a new RPG for New Vegas developer Obsidian, and that it'd be the studio's answer to the Fallout franchise.

For now, you can keep track of the game's progress by checking out its dedicated Steam store page.
