Matt and Ross Duffer announced the new game based off the third season of their critically acclaimed show before sharing a trailer. Now, they're at it again with a new game to tie into the show's third season.

The game will be available for Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Switch, Mac and PC.

The reveal of the retro-style game was announced at the 2018 Game Awards. The charming 16-bit format and simple gameplay (shoot and/or hack Demadogs and random butch guards!) is a flawless nostalgic tie-in for the '80s-set Netflix series.

It appears to be a beat-em-up game in the vein of the popular games of the genre from the 16-bit era, with some light puzzle elements as well based on what we were able to glean from the short trailer.

Stranger Things 3: The Game is being developed by BonusXP, the same company that released the mobile game Stranger Things: The Game past year.

Variety is reporting the retro-style game will follow the events of season three, and it's coming out some time next year.

Although a release date hasn't been confirmed we'd expect Stranger Things 3: The Game to come out close to the show's own release, which is now expected around summer 2019.
