Proof of service is required, which can be a valid military ID, current leave and earnings statement, wearing a uniform, or showing a veterans organization membership card, such as the American Legion or VFW.

Here are just some of the many offers out there for vets on Veterans Day. Free entry extends to all passengers in the same vehicle with a qualified service member.

The seafood giants are offering a free appetizer or dessert for all active military personnel and veterans day.

PJ Whelihan's - three area locations - will say thank you to active military and veterans by offering a free 10-piece order of their wings on Monday.

Cracker Barrel: Veterans receive a complimentary Crafted Coffee, a traditional espresso beverage (available iced or hot) or a slice of Double Chocolate Fudge Coca-Cola® Cake at all Cracker Barrel locations to thank them for their service and sacrifice for our country.

IHOP: Veterans and Active Duty Military can enjoy three of IHOP restaurant's hot-off-the-griddle, world famous Buttermilk Pancakes with glazed strawberries, blueberry compote and whipped topping for free at participating USA locations between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m.

This year, numerous chains are offering free meals to those who've served. Simply show your military ID to receive the offer.

Veterans Day is Sunday and observed Monday and restaurants and businesses across Piedmont Triad will offer discounts, free meals and special deals to veterans and members of the military.

BJ's Restaurant and Brewhouse: Enjoy any free entrée under $12.95 on November 10 and 11, as well as a complimentary Dr. Pepper.

This Sunday, veterans and active military personnel can stop by Freddy's Frozen Custard and Steakburgers and receive a free combo meal card to use during their next visit.

Harrah's and Harveys Lake Tahoe are offering a free buffet brunch or dinner to veterans and current members of the United States military at Harrah's Forest Buffet on Veterans Day, Sunday, Nov. 11.

Buffalo Wild Wings: Free small wings and fries.

Free haircut - Current and former military members can get a free haircut on November 11 or a coupon for a free haircut at any Great Clips locations.

Harris Teeter: Veterans received 11% off their grocery bill on Sunday.

Starbucks: Free tall coffee for military heroes and their spouses.

Free admission to all visitors on Veterans Day on Sunday.

Dollar General: Veterans get 11% off. You must present a government-issued military photo ID to get the deal.

Castillo de San Marcos (St. Augustine) - Admission to the fort will be free on Sunday.

Texas Roadhouse: Free special veterans lunch menu including a beverage and sides. Some Utah locations, such as 1664 N. 1200 West, Layton, will also honor this deal on Monday, Nov. 12.
