The app is globally released and is available on both Android and iOS.

Get high-quality video editing tools, effects, text on video tools, music and more from the in-app camera. TikTok which merged with lets users create 15 second videos. "We're excited about the potential here, and we'll be gathering feedback from people and creators", CNET quoted a Facebook spokesperson as saying in an email on Friday.

Today, my team launched Lasso (@lassovideos), a new video app that lets you create short, fun videos and share them with friends.

TikTok, a Chinese social media platform, is now globally recognized for the innovative ways in which it allows its users to share short videos.

They, of course being Facebook, just launched Lasso, according to an Engadget report. The social networking giant wasn't losing teens entirely: its very own Instagram recently surpassed Snapchat as the most-used app among American teens based on a survey by Piper Jaffray. There had also been the video of an exhilarating athletic display of six men performing flips over a woman who's performing an upside-doing split to the song "I like it" by Cardi B, which follows an impressive flip by her. Users will have to first authorize the app to allow access to their photos, and videos. Though all the profiles on Lasso are public which might be a cause of concern. Currently, the app is available only for users in the U.S.

The content sharing integration of Lasso with Instagram Stories is also expected to come soon.

The app requires you to log in with either a Facebook or Instagram account. By December 2015, however, Slingshot was no longer available in the App Store.

Though Facebook seems to be playing it cool with the Lasso release, the company knows what's at stake.
