Superstar Rajinikanth today criticised the ruling AIADMK in Tamil Nadu for protesting against certain scenes in actor Vijay's Diwali release 'Sarkar', questioning the rationale behind attacking a film that has been cleared by the censor board. A rough translation of his tweet says: "Once the censor board certifies a film, staging protests to demand the removal of certain scenes, obstructing the screenings, and tampering with the banners are all unlawful activities". It is directed by AR Murugadoss and has music by AR Rahman.

That said, A. R. Murugadoss himself took to his Twitter page to clear the air on the confusion that prevailed last night stating the police had banged the door of his house several times before leaving the premises after realizing he wasn't there.

Several party cadres on Wednesday protested outside various theatres in Tamil Nadu and indulged in damaging the banners of the film and cut-outs of Vijay.

Rajinikanth lashed out against these acts.

"I strongly condemn these", he added.

On Thursday, actor-politician Kamal Haasan had also strongly objected the actions of AIADMK government regarding the issue. They also demanded certain scenes to be removed from the film. A government that can't face criticism can go off the tangent.

However, the makers of the film Sun Picture are yet to officially announce if they are muting scenes.

While Sarkar has reportedly earned over Rs 70 crore worldwide on Day 1, some film trade analysts expect one of its kind film, the Aamir Khan, Katrina Kaif and Amitabh Bachchan starrer Thugs of Hindostan to earn Rs 50 crore in India only on opening day.
