The first is a full-screen experience, which blocks use of the app until the update downloads and installs.

The new API gives developers two new ways to update the apps: flexible and immediate.

Talking about the recent updates, Android product management, and developer relations Stephanie Saad Cuthberston said, "This is something that developers have asked us for a long time is - say you own an app and you want to make sure the user is running the latest version". Come on, people, keep your apps updated!

Google says that the PHA infection rate for "Google Play only" users is 0.09 percent, while the same figure is 0.61 percent for users who also sideloaded apps.

It has been a year since Google launched its "Files Go" app, which was primarily created to free up storage on smartphones with limited built-in storage, and apparently the app is successful enough to earn a rebranding.

GOOGLE HAS ANNOUNCED some new features for the Android App Bundle tool which will allow users to carry on using apps even whilst they are updating. By removing the "Go" part of the name, it is indicating to users that the app is of general usefulness for any users, and not just those with super low-end devices running on spotty networks.

Today, we're rebranding the app to Files by Google. With this, you can receive a notice from the app that an update is recommended, though, you can continue using the app normally while it updates in the background. We think so simply because it looks like you have to actively seek out the update, instead of having a pop up appear on your screen.

This API is now in testing with select developers and will be available to all Google Play developers soon.
