Years after ending its fifth and final season in 2013, show creator Vince Gilliganconfirmed to Variety on Tuesday, November6 (Wednesday, November 7 in the Philippines) that he is now working on a film connected to the widely-loved, famed series as its scriptwriter, executive producer, and possible director. Likewise, it's unknown whether it'll be a prequel a la AMC'sBetter Call Saul or will take place after the events of Breaking Bad's epic 2013 finale. Gilligan has written the script and might be directing.
The movie "will be set in the existing Breaking Bad franchise", according to sources.
Gilligan told Entertainment Weekly he'd love to see a reunion of the characters Walter White (Cranston) and Jesse Pinkman (Paul).
The feature will be set in the pre-existing'Breaking Bad world, and it has been suggested that Bob Odenkirk, who starred as Saul Goodman in the spin-off "Better Call Saul", could make an appearance.
On that front, the fact that The Albuquerque Journal are reporting that the movie will come with a logline saying it "tracks the escape of a kidnapped man and his quest for freedom", which very much seems to follow Jesse's story.
Earlier today, friend-of-the-site James Shapiro shared with me a post from The Albuquerque Journal, one claiming that a Breaking Bad movie would soon be going into production in New Mexico.
"It wouldn't feel as satisfying if it was just a cameo or an Alfred Hitchcock walkthrough".
