Man United making life hard for themselves - Herrera

Juventus Champions League Man United making life hard for themselves - Herrera

The Red Devils trailed to an early Callum Wilson goal at the Vitality Stadium before in-form Frenchman Anthony Martial pulled them level going into half-time. While much of the focus in the past week has been around the dropping of Romelu Lukaku for Marcus Rashford, it is the defensive frailties of the Red Devils that will impact Manchester United's race for the Europa League places this season.

"We are entering a period where we have some really hard games but I would say every game is so tough at this level", added the Cherries boss.

"In that situation, after nearly going 1-0 down after a couple of minutes, that triggered instability in the team".

"I don't know but I know that Mourinho is doing his best", Petit told RMC Sport, adding that, "That's not enough, but I think that a lot of players in his team should really look in the mirror". And I feel really frustrated with that.

Mourinho's success throughout his career has been built on a solid defence so it is unusual so see a side managed by the Portuguese concede so many goals. I bring Herrera. But then Ashley Young and Luke Shaw start attacking more, Paul gets much more freedom, the team recover balls higher and then we become more offensive in the period after Ander.

"He was the one that changed the game by giving the team balance, high-pressure, intensity and organisation that the team didn't have until then". My assistants were saying this is the best warm-up of the season.

Following the win, Juve coach Massimiliano Allegri said that the team could now focus on Man United, but expressed worry over the fitness of some key players. That goal, in turn, extended one of Mourinho's outstanding managerial records in English football.

"No matter how bad that first half was, that second half we all believed we can go and win. And that is a fantastic quality for the team".

The result means United have won both Premier League matches since their defeat home Juventus last month with the two sides reconvening in Turin on Wednesday.

"We will wait for Monday".

"He needs these couple of days".

Costa was forced off during the win over Cagliari at the weekend after picking up a muscle problem in his left adductor and the winger underwent physiotherapy treatments at the Juventus training ground on Sunday afternoon.

Allegri gave an update on the treatment room ahead of the midweek Champions League clash.
