There has been endless controversy surrounding WWE Crown Jewel, but after it once looking like the event would not take place, it will officially go down Friday afternoon from King Saud Stadium in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia. Upon being reinstated to the WWE Hall of Fame in July, Hogan was invited by WWE to interact with the current roster backstage at the Extreme Rules pay-per-view.

"Considering the heinous crime committed at the Saudi consulate in Istanbul, the Company faced a very hard decision as it relates to its event scheduled for November 2 in Riyadh", the WWE acknowledged in its statement.

This will be the second big event for the WWE in Saudi Arabia this year, the first being the Greatest Royal Rumble on April 27.

WWE instead has put Saudi Arabia on mute as backlash spreads against its lucrative long-term deal with a kingdom facing global uproar.

Sporting News will provide live bell-to-bell coverage of WWE Crown Jewel on Friday beginning at 11 a.m. ET.
