Two years ago, Google captivated Doodle players with a game featuring an adorable black cat with magic powers that races the clock to save its school from a horde of invading spirits. Or you can just team up with random strangers.

The Great Ghoul Duel is a great little time-waster, and I mean that as a honest compliment. You win by collecting more spirit flames (which are scattered all over the map) than the other team and returning them to your base.

Marking Google's first-ever multiplayer interactive game Doodle, the Halloween game, called the Great Ghost Duel, pits users around the world against each other in two teams as they try to amass as many points as possible. This included the integration of Open Match, a scalable, open-source matchmaking system that Google Cloud co-founded.

The best part of the game is that you can actually play with friends and family. The controls are pretty simple as you need to use arrow keys to move the ghost.

The more spirits you collect, the faster you go, which certainly helps, but having a longer tail makes you more vulnerable to opponents.

The points are only counted when you deposit the collected flames at your base. Bonuses include a speed boost and night vision. At the start of the game, click "Host Game", and you'll get a special invite link that you can send out. The game is available now, but if you want to play it, don't delay.

A day before Halloween, Google has reworked its logo into an online multiplayer game called The Great Ghoul Duel to help people get into the spirit of things.
