Niantic has sold an accessory called Pokemon Go Plus, which associated with Apple Health and Google Fit acts as a step counter and expands the gameplay even when outside the app. Now, it has revealed another new feature on the way to the game: Adventure Sync.

The official Pokemon blog has announced that it has enabled Adventure Sync in the popular mobile game.

There are some features in Pokémon GO, like walking with a Buddy or hatching Eggs, which are well-meaning, but can be pretty annoying, since you have to do so much walking to really accomplish anything.

Pokemon Go has announced a new feature that will allow players to collect sweets from their Buddy Pokemon and hatch eggs even when their game isn't open. Clearing these milestones will reward you, and your weekly distance will show on your Trainer Profile.

Thanks to Adventure Sync, the game integrates tightly with Google Fit and iOS HealthKit and works in the background. If you happen to acquire an egg, the time it takes to hatch is completely dependant on the amount of steps you take.

In other words, Adventure Sync will turn Pokemon Go into a simplified Fitbit, making it easier for players "to apply their activity and movement during their morning commutes, strolls about town on lunch, or evening jogs back to Pokémon Go". Players will also be able to earn rewards for meeting weekly walking milestones.

During its peak, Pokemon GO has been credited for getting people off their butts and on their feet and walking around, sometimes even walking into things, unfortunately. And don't worry about keeping up to date - push notifications with let you know when your buddy received a candy or an egg hatched.
