Suspicious packages addressed to former Vice President Joe Biden and actor Robert DeNiro were recovered by law enforcement officials on Thursday, a day after a series of apparent pipe bombs targeting top Democrats and CNN triggered a nationwide manhunt for a possible serial bomber.

The package contained a pipe bomb and was addressed to De Niro, whose Tribeca Productions shares the restaurant's address.

So why De Niro?

President Donald Trump on Wednesday condemned the attempted bomb attacks and called on Americans to "come together".

De Niro is a vocal Trump critic, having used his appearance at the Tony Awards earlier this year to say "f-- Trump" earlier this year.

Two officials told The Associated Press that a person working at De Niro's Manhattan office called police after seeing images of a package bomb sent to CNN and recalling a similar package addressed to the actor.

All the packages were removed, and there were no reports of injuries.

It isn't clear whether or not the attack is over; the Federal Bureau of Investigation said it can't rule out that more suspicious packages might still be moving through the mail. The packages appeared to be similar to 10 others sent this week.

Investigators have concluded that white powder found with a suspicious device this week is "not biological" - but they said that the devices are "something that should be taken seriously".

The Secret Service launched an investigation to find the source of the packages. Debbie Wasserman Schultz, the former chairwoman of the Democratic National Committee who was accused by Clinton rivals of secretly helping the party's eventual presidential nominee.

The former state secretary said "we are fine" at a Florida fundraiser.

A wide swath of investigators from NY to California to Florida are devoted to the case, which (miraculously) has not yet injured anyone, although as CNN's Jake Tapper noted on Twitter, the devices within these packages "were rudimentary but functional ..."

George Soros: Explosive device found in the mailbox outside the philanthropist's NY home on Monday.

The spree began on Monday with a device found at the NY home of billionaire liberal donor George Soros.

Much was still unanswered about the devices and authorities have said nothing about suspects.

CNN New York office: Suspicious package, addressed to former CIA Director John Brennan, found in mailroom of the Time Warner Center, home to CNN's New York office on Wednesday.

It listed Democratic Rep.

Others were sent to frequent Trump critics Rep. Maxine Waters, D-Calif., and former Obama Attorney General Eric Holder.

USA media reported that a suspicious device was also addressed to Obama's former vice president, Joe Biden, often rumored as a potential Democratic presidential candidate for 2020, in DE on Thursday.

The first pipe bomb mailer was detected on Monday at the home of billionaire George Soros.

Authorities have branded the parcel bombs, coming less than two weeks before national elections that could alter the balance of power on Capitol Hill, as an act of terrorism, though they have declined to say whether the devices were built to be functional.

New York Gov. Cuomo said the two suspicious devices found in New York City shouldn't stop people from going about their business as normal.

At a press conference Thursday, officials in NY stressed they were still treating the packages as "live devices".

"Let's get along", he said at a Wisconsin rally Wednesday night.
