A grandmother from MS in the United States has been arrested after a 20-month-old's lifeless body was found inside an oven, stabbed and burnt.

The girl's grandmother has been taken into custody but not charged, Bolivar County Sheriff Kelvin Williams told local news outlets.

Investigators say Royalty was living with her grandmother at the time.

The child was found inside a beige frame house on the north end of Shaw, a town of 2,000 residents about 100 miles (160 kilometers) northwest of Jackson in Mississippi's Delta region.

Mississippi Department of Public Safety spokesman Warren Strain says police were called Monday night to a home in the town of Shaw.

"That was the only person who was there with the child at the time", Williams said.

'When deputies arrived on the scene, it was confirmed that a homicide had taken place inside the home, ' Williams said at a press conference broadcast by WREG. Jones is charged with first-degree murder and is being held on a $500,000 bond.

WLOX reported that the girl's body has been sent to the Mississippi state crime lab for an autopsy and the Mississippi Bureau of Investigation and the state crime lab have been called to investigate.

Authorities said they had no information about the circumstances leading up to the child's death.

An unidentified neighbor told WHBQ in Memphis, Tennessee that they rarely saw the family that lived in the home where the baby was found dead.

The baby, identified as 20-month-old Royalty Marie Floyd, was found dead on Monday night by a relative who then called the police.

Robinson pleaded guilty to the murder and received a sentence of life in prison.
