Samsung also confirmed the cameras on the A9 (2018) uses pixel binning technology in low-light conditions which will result in better performance. There appears to be a fingerprint scanner on the back, though some are reporting it's on the side.

Evan Blass has spoiled a bit of Samsung's surprise ahead of the event, showing off a single image of the rear of the Galaxy A9 complete with its four cameras, which are arranged vertically in-line.

There's an ultra wide eight-megapixel (MP) camera at the top.

The primary camera is a 24-megapixel sensor with an f/1.7 aperture that handles most of point-and-shoot needs. The bottom lens is for a 5MP depth camera. The device also supports storage expandability up to 512GB which when combined with 128GB of internal storage would mean more than 600GB of total storage at your disposal. Both RAM variants include 128 GB of storage.

For its size, the Galaxy A9 sports a generous 3,800mAh battery and is running Samsung's custom UI.

If you think this is the phone for you then there's more good news as the A9 lands in your pocket for a very reasonable £549 - £190 less than the Galaxy S9. The handset will be available for purchase in select markets starting from early November.

Galaxy A9 arrives in three colours; Caviar Black, Lemonade Blue and Bubblegum Pink.

The Galaxy A9 is the first product to spring from this plan, which could help fend off mid-range rivals like Huawei, Oppo, and Xiaomi, while boosting mobile revenues dragged down by sluggish Galaxy Note 9 sales.

"Building on our legacy in smartphone camera development we're introducing next-generation technology across our entire Galaxy portfolio to give more consumers the opportunity to experience cutting-edge innovation".

Samsung has only unwrapped the Galaxy A9 (2018) smartphone, but it hasn't disclosed its pricing.

There's not long to go now before the official unveiling of the Galaxy A9 - what else do you reckon it'll have in store?
