He continues: "Kids used to dare each other to go into the woods at night".

Boasting the logline "sometimes dead is better", the clip is plenty creepy.

Paramount Pictures has released the first trailer for the Pet Sematary remake, which arrives in theaters on April 19, 2019. The first trailer for the new Pet Sematary certainly makes this remake look pretty scary. Stephen King's previous novel adaptation, IT, was a massive success when it released a year ago.

We see a shot of Jud standing in the woods, surrounded by crude crosses mapped out in a swirling pattern, before the trailer gives viewers the most striking image yet: the Creeds' cat, Church, looking mangy and on a mission to exact some kind of revenge. The film was be directed by Dennis Widmyer and Kevin Kolsch (Starry Eyes) from a script by Jeff Buhler.

Fans of the 1989 film, to say nothing of the original book, will undoubtedly be pleased with the tone established with the first footage, as the Creed family moves to rural ME, only to discover a unsafe road on one side of their home (foreshadowing!), and a burial ground on the other.

Last year saw IT hit the big screen to much fanfare, and next year will see IT: Chapter Two...but also Pet Sematary, another beloved King classic. The first trailer has now been released.

Pet Sematary is based on the 1983 Steven King book about a family that moves to the country.

The film is now scheduled to be released on 5th April, 2019.
