The second finalist of the tournament China Open in 2018, which is now taking place in Beijing, was Caroline Wozniacki.

The 2018 Australian Open victor did not drop a set throughout the tournament.

The 28-year-old, who won her first Grand Slam at the Australian Open at the start of this year, was imperious against the unseeded Sevastova.

In the semifinals, the Dane routed Chinese Wang Qiang, giving her only one game in the first game and three in the second.

"I feel great being here".

Wozniacki claimed the only break of the opening set and looked set to surge to the win after moving 4-1 up in the second by racing in from the baseline after Sevastova's backhand clipped the net cord. The 2010 champion in China dispatched the Latvian, Anastasija Sevastova to seize her second title in Beijing. "I think I had a dream of that, but I don't know how realistic I really believed that was going to be".

After a bit of a struggle, Wozniacki got the break she needed to seal the victory in 55 minutes.

Basilashvili won 6-4, 6-4 to cause an upset against the world number four at Beijing's National Tennis Centre in China's capital.

Sevastova coughed up 35 unforced errors, including 19 on the forehand side, on the way to the straight-set loss. Wozniacki played 55 matches this year and lost just 15 of them.

"Unfortunately, I have been playing through pain in my back this whole week", the world No. 6 said in a subsequent statement released by organizers.
