On tapping out the Irishman, Nurmagomedov scaled the cage to attack members of his team - apparently in response to taunts - while at least two of the Russian's team clashed with McGregor in the cage. However, Nurmagomedov then jumped outside the Octagon and attacked McGregor's friend and training partner, Dillon Danis. "They are withholding Khabib's purse, they are not withholding Conor McGregor's". When you're exhausted and when you've been pounded for four rounds. let's not forget that, in that second round, Khabib put it on him bad.

In the aftermath of the defeat McGregor posted that he was "looking forward to the rematch" - and has now backed that up with a defiant message on Monday.

He's also going to be punished by his father Abdulmanap Nurmagomedov, who was not present in Las Vegas after being denied a visa.

As he said in at the UFC 229 pre-fight press conference, there will never be peace between him and his arch rival.

Khabib took McGregor down to the ground and unleashed a flurry of punches and ultimately made him tap out in the fourth round. "We had two [security] meetings tonight, one of them two fights before the main event".

The head of the Nevada Athletic Commission, Bob Bennett, told the Los Angeles Times he's launching a "comprehensive investigation" of the incident, and UFC president Dana White said late on Saturday it would not be surprising if Nurmagomedov receives a lengthy suspension and has his belt stripped. I don't know when things started turning into some kind of shit show?!

In an apology that seemed to be tongue in cheek, Khabib wrote on Instagram: 'My face when someone says that they didn't like my jump, but I tried so hard. In Nurmagomedov's apology for triggering the postfight melee, he said of McGregor, "He talked about my religion, he talked about my country, he talked about my father, he come to Brooklyn and he broke bus, he nearly killed a couple people".
