Emily was joined by actress Amy Schumer, who spoke during the protest at the Hart Senate Office Building and said, "No matter how this goes, they can not keep us down".

In a video posted on Twitter Thursday, an officer asked Schumer if she wanted to be arrested, implying that she would be detained if she did not leave the premises.

In a selfie video posted by a social media user, Schumer said to the camera, "Hi Zola, I'm here with your mom, she loves you very much, I think we're gonna get arrested and we're so proud of you".

Amy Schumer has been reportedly detained in Washington D.C. while protesting Supreme Court nominee Judge Brett Kavanaugh.

Republican Senators Jeff Flake and Susan Collins - who have been viewed as swing voters on the nomination - both appear to be inching toward a yes vote on Kavanaugh after the FBI released their investigation into the allegations, which has led many progressive activists to ramp up their efforts in opposing him.

Amy was later seen in a lineup against a wall, where she and others, including Emily Ratajkowski, were being detained. "Men who hurt women can no longer be placed in positions of power". Arrests were made after protesters began sitting down in the building's atrium, refusing to cooperate with law enforcement.

Before her arrest, Schumer addressed the crowd, telling them "a vote for Kavanaugh is a vote saying women don't matter".

"Last week, we proved that people coming together and sharing their stories can change the course of history", Ana Maria Archila, co-director of the Center for Popular Democracy Action, one of the planned protest's organizers, said in a statement Thursday. We're going to keep showing up. I don't know. Upstairs, downstairs, where was it? "That's the only thing I remember", Mr Trump mocked.
