The Duchess of Sussex's mother made a secret visit to London on an overnight flight from Los Angeles ready to join Prince Harry and Meghan Markle for the event at Kensington Palace.

She helped to make chapatis and grill koftas as she launched the cookbook in Perk's Field, outside Kensington Palace.

"I used to call you Meghan (and I still do) but dear Duchess of Sussex your first project "Together" [is] a cookbook bringing women of all cultures together", Williams wrote.

It was a day of celebration for the women of the Hubb Community Kitchen who rallied together to feed people affected by the Grenfell Tower disaster.

Meghan continued: "Through this charitable endeavour, the proceeds will allow the kitchen to thrive and keep the global spirit of community alive". The recipes come from the women themselves, and many have been passed through generations.

Meghan looked incredible as she showed off her elegant, yet eye-catching, sense of style at the book's launch event in London, as she stepped out in a sophisticated pleated black skirt, paired with a simple black sleeveless top.

Duchess of Sussex takes mother to Grenfell book launch as surprise guest

Here are some adorable photos from Meghan Markle's charity cookbook launch, which is her first solo royal project.

In a speech to her honoured guests, the duchess said the project had been a "tremendous labour of love ... It's 12 countries represented in this one group of women-it's pretty outstanding", she warmly told the crowd.

Following the speech, Meghan, Harry and Doria sat down with the women and their guests, including those from the local community, the Al Manaar Muslim Cultural Heritage Centre and representatives from the book's publishers, to enjoy the feast beneath a beautifully decorated tent.

"The power of food is more than just the meal itself - it is the story behind it", And when you get to know the story of the recipe, you get to know the person behind it", she said.

She added: "There's so many people to thank - I'm extremely grateful because this is my first project and I appreciate your support. To be able to celebrate what connects us rather than what divides us, I believe, is the ethos of Together".

However, there are reports Meghan has made a secret trip to Los Angeles to see her mother since then and is considering moving to the United Kingdom to be close to her only daughter. Needless to say, she nailed it!
