Meghan Markle’s mom Doria attends first royal event since wedding

Meghan Markle has been joined by her mother Doria to mark the launch of a cookbook for the Grenfell Tower community.

Markle showed gratitude to the women for embracing her into their kitchens and for partaking in the cookbook, which she called a "tremendous labor of love".

In the new book supported by Meghan, some of the recipes are family favourites and all have been created by the cooks who support not only residents affected by the Grenfell fire but others in the community.

This is the first time she has visited the United Kingdom since her daughter's wedding in May, and the first time the two have been seen together since the big day.

While Ragland has been given a prominent royal seal of approval, Meghan's father has spoken of his fears that she will not contact him again. She wrote the book's forward.

"I had just recently moved to London and I felt so immediately embraced by the women in the kitchen, the warmth and your kindness and also to be able to be in this city and to see in this one small room how multi-cultural it was", Meghan told those involved in the project at a lunch at Kensington Palace.

The event at Kensington Palace on Thursday saw Meghan give her first speech, which she delivered in front of a roomful of guests without any notes or prompts as Harry and Doria looked proudly on. On a personal level, I feel so proud to live in a city that can have so much diversity.

Now they've launched a recipe book to benefit the community. The former Suits star looked stunning, as usual, in a stylish ensemble: a bodysuit by Tuxe, skirt from one of her favorite designers Misha Nonoo and a royal blue coat by Smythe.

There was a large range on the menu, including coconut chicken curry, aubergine masala and a range of chapatis and sharing dips.

"I said in the foreword that this is more than a cookbook, and what I mean by that is the power of food is more than just the meal itself, it is the story behind it".

"I immediately felt connected to this community kitchen", Markle says in a promotional video for the book.

This is the first time Meghan has been seen with any of her family since the wedding.
