Cornerback Vontae Davis apparently had enough of the struggling team, removed himself at halftime and retired from the league without speaking to any of his teammates about his decision.

The cousin of former 49ers tight end Vernon Davis, Vontae Davis visited with the 49ers and Raiders this offseason, but he chose instead to join the Bills after six seasons with the Indianapolis Colts. "I meant no disrespect to my teammates and coaches". I found out going into the second half of the game.

"This isn't how I pictured retiring from the National Football League", the statement said.

Buffalo linebacker Lorenzo Alexander told reporters that he was told Davis quit at halftime. "They don't owe him anything, and they're probably pissed", Corry said. "While I was on the field, I just didn't feel right, and I told the coaches, "I'm not feeling like myself".

It's true. The reality must have hit, at some point Sunday, that Davis was a Buffalo Bill.

"Completely disrespectful", Alexander said, according to The Athletic.

"It's more important for me and my family to walk away healthy than to wilfully embrace the warrior mentality and limp away too late", he added.
