Our friends over at Entertainment Weekly revealed the first official shot of Brie Larson's Captain Marvel in costume this morning, and shortly thereafter they revealed a ton of new images from the film, as well. Rest easy, Carol Danvers fans... we've been served a look at Larson in the red and blue suit. The first one is their cover image below, which features Larson in full Captain Marvel get up and some flowing hair that Farah Fawcett would envy. We hypothesized they could do this based on comic book lore and set photos before, but now we know it's real. Still, Captain Marvel is just a fraction as well known as Spidey is, so expect some exposition or flashbacks along the way to flesh things out a bit.

It's a big day for those who have been impatiently awaiting the arrival of Marvel's next film, Captain Marvel.

Captain Marvel was briefly referenced at the end of Avengers Infinity War when Nick Fury contacted her via a device, just before he turned to ash.

It'll be fun to see what Captain Marvel does with these notorious alien menaces when the film hits on March 8, 2019. We're hoping the film touches on that as well. Ben Mendelsohn plays Talos, the leader of the Skrulls who spearheads an invasion of earth.

"She's left her earthly life behind to join an elite Kree military team called Starforce, led by Jude Law's enigmatic commander".

This wouldn't be a proper Marvel movie without a fair amount of Samuel L. Jackson's Nick Fury woven into it.

The character, an Air Force pilot who is accidentally enhanced by alien powers, is different, says co-director Anna Bowden. She will eventually return to earth to to take on the Skrulls as they wage a galactic war with the Kree. That Rambeau was originally introduced as Captain Marvel in the comics, but she's since become heroes like Pulsar, Spectrum, and - her callsign in Captain Marvel - Photon. EW also reveals that Danvers will already have her powers - the cause of which is her DNA fusing with that of a Kree's during an accident - at the start of the film.

Lee Pace might get a redemption in Captain Marvel in his reprisal of the role of Ronan the Accuser.

Not only is Captain Marvel the first solo, female-led movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, it's also an introduction to one of the most powerful heroes the MCU has ever seen.
