Update: Apparently, saying Ohio State's investigation into coach Urban Meyer "will be finished when it's finished" means it will be finished on Sunday, Aug. 19. Ohio State announced the probe would wrap up on Sunday and the findings would be given to the school board of trustees, USA Today reported. The board will deliberate, then Drake will announce a decision.

The school placed Meyer on paid administrative leave on August 1 after it was reported that he knew of former assistant Zach Smith's alleged abuse of his now ex-wife, Courtney. Meyer, who fired Zach Smith in late July, originally said he knew nothing about a 2015 incident between the Smiths.

Meyer was placed on leave on August 1. He later retracted that statement and said he followed proper protocol in reporting the issue when it occurred in October 2015. Smith was sacked in July, after his ex-wife obtained a protective order against him.

Meyer's fate won't be known this weekend, however, as the investigators will compile a report based on the results of their investigation.

"There is a great deal of interest in this investigation", Drake said in an interview. "I'm waiting until they come forward with information and we'll try to use that information to make the best decisions we can".

Head coach Urban Meyer of the Ohio State Buckeyes leaves the field after the win against the Nebraska Cornhuskers at Memorial Stadium on October 14, 2017 in Lincoln, Nebraska.

The independent working group is chaired by former Ohio House Speaker Jo Ann Davidson.

Ohio State athletic director Gene Smith also knew about the 2015 allegations, according to Zach Smith. We wanted to have that information as quickly as possible. That employee reportedly no longer works with the football program. Brian Hartline, Zach Smith's replacement as receivers coach, "has brought the "juice" each day", Day wrote.

Ohio State will have a scrimmage Saturday, which designates the end of fall camp and the beginning of what are considered traditional practices.

"[Athletic Director] Gene [Smith] and I agree that being on leave during this inquiry will facilitate its completion", Meyer said in a statement following his placement on leave.
