Shannan Watts was one of the first customers to visit Ashley Bell's tanning salon in nearby Dacona two years ago.

Frankie Rzucek, who is identified on Shanann Watts' Facebook page as being her brother, posted overnight on his page saying he just wanted to know why. "Like, this house is not the same".

He told KMGH-TV about how traumatic it was to spend the night in the family's unusually quiet home and missing telling his daughters to eat their dinner and turning on their bedroom monitors. "I don't know, but if someone has her and they're not safe I'll want them back now".

The disappearance triggered an alert from authorities, with the Federal Bureau of Investigation joining the case on August 15. Officers doing a welfare check found that Shannan's keys, purse, and phone, as well as her vehicle, were still at the house.

In the interview the day before his arrest, Chris Watts glowingly described his girls. "She's always gung-ho ready to go".
