In the 29-year-German worldwide, Jose Mourinho would have an experienced head who can provide a boost in European competitions while also being a leader who the likes of Eric Bailly and Victor Lindelof could look up to.

The reigning French league champions Paris St Germain and their German coach Thomas Tuchel are said to be interested in signing Boateng.

The Bayern Munich defender spoke to United boss Jose Mourinho earlier this week to explain he was honoured by United's interest in him but would not be moving to Old Trafford.

The 2017-18 German champions are rumored to be demanding a 50 million euro transfer fee.

Furthermore, reports have also claimed that the 29-year-old chose to continue with the Bavarians as he feels Manchester United "are not among the contenders to lift the [Champions League] trophy".

Bayern want £50million for Boateng, but could sell for £40m with United set to be forced out of the race when the English transfer window closes on Thursday.

While Arsenal have not commented on the matter, both Tuchel and United coach Jose Mourinho say the German worldwide would add quality to their defenses.

The Portuguese is open to selling a player that he criticised for not returning to United's pre-season tour of America after the birth of his second child.

Last season he suffered a hamstring injury in April, nearly causing him to miss Germany's dismal World Cup campaign in Russian Federation.

On August 24, they will take on league runners-up TSG Hoffenheim in their 2018-19 Bundesliga curtain-raiser.

"For me Jerome is one of the best central defenders in the world", the Dutch winger said, according to FourFourTwo. "He has to come back down to earth", Rummenigge had said.

The world champion signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation Sports, a sports agency branch of the rapper's Roc Nation business, which sees Boateng travel to the United States on numerous occasions.

The player stressed that the accusations were a great disappointment to him.
