The Reds begin the new campaign with a home game against West Ham United on Sunday and Shaqiri, a summer arrival from Stoke City, is in contention to make his competitive debut for the club.

Liverpool should start the season with a win but West Ham can find the net too, says Dave Tindall, as he previews Sunday's match between the two clubs. We beat Manchester City in the league and the Champions League last season, so I think we can win everything in the world.

With Mo Salah virtually priced out of the market at just 4/11 (Sportsbook) to score and Roberto Firmino also too short at 8/11 given how little football he's played since the World Cup, the obvious goalscorer shout for Liverpool is Sadio Mane at 6/5.

"We know that. More clinical".

"But it also means that if Liverpool do not go close, they may find themselves back in familiar territory in 12 months' time, behind those who usually invest more but are rebuilding going into this campaign". City got three points from us, we got three points from them. They didn't lose any player and they brought in (Riyad) Mahrez, so that doesn't make them weaker.

"There are bigger problems in life than losing a Champions League final, so we all have bigger problems than losing a Champions League final".

"We have a talented team who can play to win titles". We can improve everything.

Liverpool FC lost 3-1 to Real Madrid in the Champions League last term to extend their run without a trophy under German head coach Klopp. I said it 500 times already; when Daniel is fit, nobody doubts him. I want this season's title race to be more spicy and I think it will be.

Trent Alexander-Arnold returned sooner than expected from his extended holiday after the 2018 FIFA World Cup and should start ahead of Nathaniel Clyne at right-back. We have taken players in with the quality to help the team. Trent, a bit longer in, which is good; [Henderson] in and full of power, but not too long in - three or four days - but it's Hendo so you always think about him.

"Many people will say that these things happen, but if that is the message we are sending to our children, that nothing is out of bounds and it's all about winning, then I will be glad to leave this planet in 40 years".
