Amid rumors that he will sign for Barcelona this summer or in an upcoming transfer window (remember, the transfer window in Spain is open for a few more weeks), Manchester United star Paul Pogba has given a cryptic response regarding his relationship with manager Jose Mourinho.

United had several chances to extend its lead against a Leicester side that called goalkeeper David De Gea into action more often than Mourinho would have liked.

Speaking to Sky sports the Manchester United defender had a lot to say about his first goal for Manchester United. "For me, it's a dream come true", Pogba said.

"No, I just have to be myself and do what I know, do what I can do and do what I know to do".

And there were plenty of jokes and memes flying about on social media soon after the ball hit the back of the net.

Andreas Pereira. The talented young Belgian spent last season on loan at Valencia and got the surprise start in this one. (It was) weird. I was thinking, "You've got to score". I was thinking how do you get the power into it. But it was a very, very complete performance, now he has to just keep going. Daniel Amartey handled in the box and a penalty was given.

Mourinho also confirmed Pogba had his blessing to take the penalty after what appeared to be a disagreement with Alexis Sanchez.

"Pogba was a monster", said Mourinho. [Shaw's] game was very complete, even if I forget the goal, of course an important goal for us, but the performance was very complete. Just try to help the team as much as possible, like they helped me too. We want to go up.

The goal was Shaw's first in the Premier League in 104 appearances in England's top flight.

"I am the same, it's the same Paul Pogba, the France midfielder said, reflecting on his summer". I know it's a great cup, it will stay in my mind, but I want to win all the trophies.

A 2-1 victory on Friday night, built around a stirring performance and an early penalty from World Cup victor Pogba as well as Luke Shaw's first career goal, might have been cause for good cheer but Mourinho chose the occasion to revisit his concerns over the club's recent business.

The move is said to be a recognition by the club hierarchy of 'the need to modernise in an era when managers are often in situ only for the short term, ' with Mourinho now the second longest serving United manager in a generation.

"We thought maximum 60 minutes but he managed (more than) 80".

"Very good players, fantastic investment, an incredible squad. We were in trouble", added Mourinho.

"Having the armband, it's not like "oh, I will show that I am a real captain and have to do extra work".
