The Real Housewives of NY star Bethenny Frankel's boyfriend Dennis Shields died at his apartment in Trump Tower this morning.

Dennis appeared in a handful of episode of The Real Housewives of New York City, alongside Bethenny.

He had asked his 29-year-old assistant to administer Narcan - used to reverse an opioid OD - around 9 a.m., but it was too late. However, Aja Worthy-Davis, a spokeswoman for the New York Medical Examiner's Office, told USA TODAY that her agency is investigating the death of a man believed to be Shields, adding that it would release the cause and manner of his death once the autopsy has been completed.

It is not yet clear who made the call to 911, and police are not revealing what they found in Shields' apartment when they arrived.

"This is heartbreaking. I spoke to Bethenny yesterday to say I was going to Coast Rica, in case she wanted to come and get away".

We're told the NY medical examiner's office will determine the cause of death, although it is believed drugs were involved.

Our thoughts are with Dennis' loved ones at this time.

Dennis and Bethenny are thought to have been now not dating.

"I've been with someone on and off for years", she shared.

Before entering into a relationship following Frankel's contentious divorce from ex-husband Jason Hoppy, the two knew each other for almost 30 years.

They had a rich history, having met 28 years ago, though their romance didn't start until much later.

TooFab reached out to Bethenny for comment and will update this post if she responds.

She continued, "I have worked with unbelievable producers, made great friends, and I'm thrilled to leave frenemies behind".

"I've been with someone on and off for years", she told talk show host Steve Harvey. "It's like a partnership where if we're not being teammates and it's not working and one man is down, then the other man is down".
