"Idris has that." Fuqua is known for his legendary work on Training Day, The Equalizer, The Magnificent Seven, and Southpaw. Since, however, inclinations that Elba might be the first non-white Bond have subsided, until recently.

The Daily Star was present as director Antoine Fuqua revealed details of a conversation he had with the woman who calls the shots with all things James Bond, producer Barbara Broccoli.

When the pair discussed who might take the baton from Craig, Broccoli allegedly stated that she's sure an actor of color becoming Bond is something that "will happen eventually" and Elba's name later came up as an apparent frontrunner.

British bookies William Hill have slashed the odds on Idris Elba being named as the next James Bond from 9/2 to 7/4. "Idris could do it if he was in shape", Fuqua told the newspaper. You need a guy with physically strong presence. Will Elba want to play it as much as everyone else wants him to? Bond 25 is being produced by Eon Productions with Barbara Broccoli and Michael G. Wilson producing.

Despite the entire WhatCulture office - and most of you, probably - demanding that I be cast as the next Bond, producers might actually be honing in on some else to play the role. Elba addressed the rumors with humor tweeting back in December 2014.

He added: 'Are we interested in having a Bond character other than being a male?

He said to Vanity Fair: "It could be a woman - could be a black woman, could be a white woman".

While the rest of the world is shaken and stirred over the notion of Elba playing Bond, it looks like he isn't fussed one way or another.
