It was not immediately clear when the Brad Furman-directed film would be put out, as no new date has been announced by its distributor, Global Road Entertainment. It tells the story of the unsolved murder of B.I.G., with Depp playing Los Angeles police detective Russell Poole and Whitaker as a journalist.

The following week of September 14 sees the release of sci-fi action movie The Predator, axe-murder biopic Lizzie, true life crime drama White Boy Rick, and missing persons thriller A Simple Favor.

Had it been released next month, it would coincide with the iconic rappers 46th birthday.

Johnny Depp's next movie has been pulled from theatrical release with just a month to go.

No replacement date has been set for the Johnny Depp film about the Notorious B.I.G. and Tupac Shakur. The crew member also claimed that he was sacked from City of Lies after refusing to sign a non-disclosure agreement that would've prevented him from suing Depp. Also complicating matters is a lawsuit against Depp from this film's location manager Gregg "Rocky" Brooks, who says "he was repeatedly hit by Depp after being informed that filming that night in downtown L.A. was going to have to wrap late".

The 55-year-old stars as villain Grindelwald in the Harry Potter spin-off, but his inclusion in the film has been criticised due to the allegations of physical abuse made against him by ex-wife Amber Heard. "Jack" Jackson (Forest Whitaker), a reporter desperate to save his reputation and career, is determined to find out why.

Depp appeared in character at the 2018 San Diego Comic Con.
