Defender Daley Blind is leaving Manchester United and returning to his boyhood club Ajax in a transfer of historic proportions.

The report claims Blind's return to his former club on a four-year deal is now only subject to an agreed payment structure between the two clubs - a reunion which comes four-years after the Netherlands global left to join United in a £13.8m deal.

Sources have also told ESPN FC that United have received an enquiry from Inter Milan for full-back Matteo Darmian.

While Barca would have to pay a bunch for De Jong, losing Blind to Ajax is not the best move for us.

Blind started only four Premier League games last season, with three of those coming in the opening trio of fixtures and the remaining appearance being a full nine months later as Jose Mourinho chose a much-changed team for the final game against Watford ahead of the following week's FA Cup final.

The Dutch worldwide is capable of playing at centre-back, left-back and in a deep-lying midfield role, although his versatility has not been utilised by Mourinho recent times.

With several players having been linked with moves away from Manchester United in this transfer window, has the club's first departure now been revealed?

United paid Ajax around £13.9m for Blind in 2014 but stand to make a profit by selling him back to the Dutch giants with a potential deal reaching £18m. The Dutchman has served as a competent utility player for United over four years, performing well in defensive midfield as well as central defence and left-back.
