Michael Avenatti, the lawyer for adult film star Stormy Daniels, vowed to fight the "bogus charges" his client faces after she was apparently arrested early Thursday while performing at an OH strip club, in what he blasted as a "setup" that was "politically motivated".

Following a performance at the Columbus strip club, called Sirens, Wednesday night, Daniels was approached by multiple undercover officers informing her that she would be arrested for allowing the patron to touch her, Avenatti said in an interview with The Washington Post.

Adult film star Stormy Daniels has been arrested at a strip club in OH after being accused of allowing a customer to touch her.

Mr Avenatti wrote: "This was a setup & politically motivated". It reeks of desperation. "We will vehemently contest all charges". "It's absurd that law enforcement resources are being spent to conduct a sting operation related to customers touching performers in a strip club in a non-sexual manner". "There has to be higher priorities!", he added. Avenatti said in another tweet, appearing to suggest a set-up.

Although Stormy was touched in a "non-sexual" way, the OH law prohibits anyone who isn't a family member to touch a nude or semi-nude dancer. Trump has denied the affair happened. He later said Daniels is expected to be released on bail and charged with a misdemeanor for allowing touching.

Daniels made headlines worldwide for allegedly having an affair with Donald Trump in 2006 - and for the $130,000 she says she received from his attorney in 2016 in exchange for her silence about the alleged sexual encounter. The payment might have violated campaign finance laws.
