London Mayor Sadiq Khan has given permission for a giant inflatable baby blimp that looks like Trump to fly over the Houses of Parliament during the president's visit.

"Numerous demonstrations are being planned for July 12 to 14, 2018, surrounding the visit of the President of the United States to the United Kingdom", the US embassy said in the alert on its website.

"That is why I welcome President Trump's forthcoming meeting with President Putin - open channels of communication between the U.S. and Russian Federation are key to managing the risks of confrontation".

Trump "has proudly sparked passionate often divisive emotions about things, I think Americans living here to eager to turn out and express their views", he said.

But trip planners may go out of their way to shield Trump from viewing another aspect of the greeting: an oversized balloon depicting the president as an angry baby in a diaper that will be flown from Parliament Square during what are expected to be massive gatherings of protesters opposed to Trump's presence.

The couple will attend a gala dinner at Blenheim Palace out in the countryside on Thursday evening.

While Trump is expected to have a busy schedule throughout his visit, there is at least one place that he will avoid: central London.

Organizers of anti-Trump rallies say they are not expecting any trouble at all - and that it would be very unlikely for any hostility to be directed at ordinary Americans.

Thousands of people are expected to protest against the president's visit across the UK.

- Mr Trump and First Lady Melania will have a meet and greet at the US Embassy in London.

Besides protests, United Kingdom supporters of President Trump are also scheduled to hold Pro-Trump rally outside the US Embassy in London. They have already ordered sufficient helium to pick up en route to power the weekend's activities.

Mr Trump's mother, the late Mary MacLeod Trump, was Scottish.

Ms Elliott, who is originally from Virginia, said she is hopeful there could be a state visit by Mr Trump next year.

"From the public, the welcome will be far from warm", he told lawmakers on Wednesday.

The US president has angered many in Britain in the last two years with a series of actions and pronouncements.
