Variety reports Cardi B's counter-suit claims Leonard attempted to "maintain complete control over her" by dictating who she was romantically involved with.

Cardi B has issued a counter lawsuit against her former manager, Klenord "Shaft" Raphael. The plaintiff claimed that Cardi B "has not only declared the agreements to be 'void and unenforceable, ' but she has also repeatedly defamed Shaft, falsely communicating to her fiancé Kiara Kendrell Cephus p/k/a Offset, members of her entourage, and the public that 'Shaft is robbing me'". She claims he took 50 per cent of the royalties from her work with Atlantic Records.

"Shaft conceived, arranged and orchestrated Cardi B's rise to become the biggest music sensation on the planet". Cardi B's agreement with WorldStar and KSR entitled Shaft to 20 percent of her gross income.

Back in April this year, Klenord "Shaft" Raphael had sued the star, real name Belcalis Almanzar, for $10 million claiming that he had been "frozen" out of her career after she exploded into the mainstream over the last year. The lawsuit alleges that Shaft was "a self-serving and controlling personal manager" who breached "contractual and fiduciary duties to Belcalis Almanzar, an immensely talented and trusting young artist".

The lawsuit seeks compensatory damages of $5 million, punitive damages of $15 million, rescission of the management agreement and the KSR Recording agreement and payment of all attorneys fees, among other requests.

In one instance, he said Offset contacted him late a year ago, saying he was a "snake" who had taken more than his fair share of Cardi B's earnings. "While he is proud of their successful collaborations as she evolved from Instagram influencer to music megastar, Shaft is disappointed by her actions to freeze him out of her career, which are detailed in the complaint", according to court documents. Leonard is listed as a co-writer on Cardi B's "Bodak Yellow".
