Real Madrid confirmed in a statement that they have agreed Ronaldo's transfer to Juventus following the expressed wishes of the player.

It was reported that Ronaldo and Juventus president Andrea Agnelli had met in Greece earlier today to finalise the deal to take the Portuguese captain to the Serie A.

"He has also become the top scorer in the history of Real Madrid with 451 goals in 438 games". "I'm leaving, but this jersey, this shield and the Santiago Bernabeu will always feel as something that is mine wherever I go".

Ronaldo will sign a four-year deal that includes a yearly salary of around €30m ($35 million), according to The Guardian.

The five-time Ballon d'Or victor has been Real for nine seasons after joining from Manchester United for a then world-record fee of £80m.

New Juventus signing Emre Can was asked about the possibility of playing with the five time World Player of the Year during his presentation to the Turin club on Monday.

Many people considered that to be a contract renewal tactic, but it has proven to be genuine after Real Madrid announced the departure of their star man on Tuesday.

Cristiano Ronaldo is officially out at Real Madrid and has transferred to Italian club Juventus.

Juventus have dominated Italian football for years, with the Serie A giants winning the league title in each of the last seven seasons and completing the domestic double in the four most recent campaigns.

He was also named as the world's best men's player on six occasions while representing Los Blancos.

"In addition to the titles he won, Cristiano Ronaldo has been an example of dedication, work, responsibility, talent and determination", Madrid added.

Real Madrid has won my heart and that of my family and it is because of that, now more than ever, I would like to say thank you.

"I came to win titles, the first goal is the championship, but then the Champions League is here". Ronaldo scored four goals to take his tally to 85 for his country and break Ferenc Puskas' record as Europe's all-time leading global scorer.
