After failing to secure a trade for Anthony last summer, the Rockets will have the opportunity to sign Melo again.

They apparently already have their main target in mind, as they are laser focused on landing Carmelo Anthony the former All-Star parts ways with the Thunder, according to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski.

Luc Mbah a Moute, who averaged almost 20 minutes per game over two seasons with the Clippers before heading to the Houston Rockets, has reportedly agreed to a one-year, $4.3 million deal to return to Los Angeles.

Mbah a Moute returns to the Clippers after playing two seasons in L.A. from 2015-17. He may be even more motivated to do that if reaches a buyout agreement with the Thunder.

The 24-year-old restricted free agent and Houston are far apart in their contract negotiations, according to a report from USA Today's Rockets Wire. The Miami Heat are also reportedly interested in adding Anthony.

Multiple reports on Sunday said Rockets guard Chris Paul wants Anthony, a good friend of his, to join the Rockets, while Anthony is also believed to have interest in joining LeBron James with the Los Angeles Lakers. Losing Mbah A Moute and small forward Trevor Ariza, who agreed to a deal with the Phoenix Suns, opens up a spot for Anthony if a deal can be made. He's averaged 24.1 points over 15 National Basketball Association seasons, but winning in the postseason has been one thing Anthony has always struggled to do.
