On Saturday, Phoenix signed franchise cornerstone Devin Booker to a five-year, $158 million maximum contract set to take effect in the 2019-20 season.

He will make another $11 million this season, but it just shows how different the financial situation is in the National Basketball Association when a 21-year-old can make more in five seasons than what one of the greatest players at his position has made in 14 years in the NFL.

Through his first three seasons with the Suns, Booker has averaged 19.8 points, 3.5 assists and 3.3 rebounds in 208 games.

Sacramento Kings rookie Marvin Bagley III suffered an injury to his right hip and groin in the team's 71-63 loss to the Phoenix Suns in the NBA Las Vegas Summer League, the Kings announced Saturday. "Devin and the team both wanted to extend this agreement with the club as long as we possibly could".

Booker, 21, said he was "humbled and honored" to make a long-term commitment to the Suns. Thank you to the Suns for drafting me and believing in me. "I look forward to the future and pursuing a title as a Phoenix Sun". Only LeBron James and Kevin Durant were younger. Jackson stared at Bagley and stood over the No. 2 pick from the 2018 NBA Draft as well.

Still, the Suns have surrounded their centerpiece with five lottery picks over the years, including 2018 selections, DeAndre Ayton out of Arizona and Mikal Bridges out of Villanova.

Booker will be 26, and presumably approaching his prime, when the new contract expires.
